She will complete the term of former Councilman Anthony Miller who retired and moved out of state in early June.
Wass, 52, is a lifelong Wayne resident and has previously served on the city planning commission and the board of review.
She and her husband, Curt, whom she met while both were members of the Wayne Memorial High School Marching Band, have been married since 1992 and are the parents of two adult daughters.
“I had been considering serving on the council for awhile, just to be involved in the community and see if I could make a difference,” Wass said.
Wass is a real estate agent with ERA Reardon Realty based in Farmington.
“I feel like the council is now doing things that are positive,” she said. “You know, everyone has a niche and I hope to learn how I can fit in and do the most good.”
Wass was the only candidate interviewed for the term which expires in November of 2022.
