Like the sprawling facilities in neighboring Plymouth and Romulus, Amazon is planning to open a 183,000 square-foot delivery center in Canton Township.
The Canton facility will be located on Michigan Avenue between Beck and Denton roads and will employ about 100 people, according to an announcement from Amazon. The delivery station is expected to open sometime next year, officials said.
Canton Township Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak said the township welcomed the new operation and that officials were excited to have been chosen for the facility.
“We're excited to expand our investment throughout the state of Michigan with the addition of these new facilities,” Alicia Boler Davis, senior vice president of global customer fulfillment for Amazon, said in a statement. “This expansion not only allows us to better serve our customers across the state, but also enables us to boost the local economy and drive more opportunities for job creation. We're proud to have created more than 21,000 jobs so far, and look forward to our continued growth in Michigan.”
The Amazon location in Plymouth Township, on Haggerty Road between Ann Arbor Road and Joy, will be a sorting center while the Romulus location is a warehouse and distribution center.
