The Plymouth Community Arts Council (PCAC) recently chose the winners of the 2021 Savage Studio Art Awards.
Established in 2021 by Plymouth artist Leonardo Savage, these talent-based art awards and scholarships are for students in the 5th-9th grades. They are awarded to encourage the creative artistic pursuits of the young people as they move through the "middle grades" into high school. These students were nominated by their Plymouth Community Arts Council summer art camp instructors based on talent, dedication to their art, and creative expression.
The prizes include a student designed T-shirt, created this year with winner Charlie Palko; a scholarship for PCAC after school art classes or summer art camps during the year following the award and a monetary prize to be used for art supplies, equipment, museum visit, art experience or additional art training.
Winners this year were: Lily Bestasis - Ceramics and Painting, $100 plus a $50 scholarship; Nora Foster - Ceramics and Design, $100 plus a $50 scholarship; Pete Mascaro - Ceramics, $100 plus a $50 scholarship; Sam Milligan - Drawing and Ceramics $300 plus a $50 scholarship; Charlie Palko - Graphic Design and Painting $400 plus a $50 scholarship and Lia Victor - Ceramics, Drawing and Painting $200 plus a $50 scholarship.
