Belleville Area Museum reopens to public

The Belleville Area Museum has reopened.

“We're so excited to open our doors once again,” said museum Director Katie Dallos. “We have missed you all and can't wait to see everyone back at the Belleville Area Museum and at our fall events.”

Hours at the museum are noon until 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, although those may change in December, due to the holidays, Dallos said.

Current displays included a Women's Suffrage and Vintage Department Store Room which includes a 19th Amendment flag along with hats and costumes to try on.

“Stop by and keep your eyes open for the salad hat,” said Dallos. “You'll know it when you see it.”

Admission into the museum is free, but donations are welcome. All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

The 2021 fall events include the    Booville Bonfire Kickoff from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5;  Harvest Fest from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9;   Soop Cemetery Tour from 3 until 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, $15 per person;   Kids Halloween Party from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24;   Downtown Trick or Treat from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29; Museum Holiday Decorating by appointment only Nov. 1-19;  Belle Noelle Bonfire from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 and  Santa Picture and Ornament Workshop from noon until 4 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 11 and 18,  $2 per child.

“The Belleville Area Museum has been a meeting place for our community to come together for events while exploring the history of Belleville, Sumpter and Van Buren Township,” said Community Services Director Elizabeth Renaud. “We're looking forward to continuing that tradition and opening our doors once again.”
