Little Shop of Horrors comes to Canton stage

Connor Rhoades as Seymour Krelborn and Jeff Powers as the
voice of Audrey II prepare their roles in the Spotlight
Players production of Little Shop of Horrors at the Village Theater.
One of Broadway and Hollywood's sci-fi smash musicals, Little Shop of Horrors, is appearing on the Main Stage at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton this weekend.

Presented by Spotlight Players, performances of the popular musical are set for Sept. 24, 25 and 26.

The plot introduces audiences to meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn as he stumbles across a new breed of plant that he names “Audrey II” - after a coworker on whom he has a crush. The foul-mouthed, singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to down-and-out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it blood.

Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out-of-this-world origins and intent towards global domination. The score includes popular tunes including Grow For Me, Suppertime and Suddenly Seymour.

The production is directed by Anne Munro and the cast includes Connor Rhoades as Seymour Krelborn; Christine Martinez as Audrey; Marc Rosati as Mr. Mushnik; Dalton Pittman as Orin Scrivello and Jeff Powers as the Voice of Audrey II.

Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 and 25 and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26  at the Village Theater, at 50400 Cherry Hill Road, Canton.

Tickets are priced at $15-18 each and can be purchased online at cantonvillagetheater.org. To order tickets by phone, or to schedule an appointment to purchase tickets in-person, call (734) 394.5300 x3.
